Well another week means more stories… Firstly I was jamming to some of my rap music when my sister told me about a job opportunity for Spanish, (as she knows I am very good at Spanish because I was in it for three years) that my old Spanish teacher told her about. Well I went and talked to the teacher about the position, and guess what? I got that position! I am now a resource teacher for Freeland and Carrollton Middle schools in the Saginaw area. I went into the Carrollton Middle school on Friday and the students seem to know a little Spanish, but definitely not much. I wonder if I would be able to do what my Spanish teacher did for us and play songs that the kids can learn some Spanish words from the songs. I really enjoyed that in Spanish class because I like music so much! If I can ever find a way to incorporate Spanish into a lesson I’m sure I’ll find a way. Some of the songs we listened to in Spanish were very sad when we translated them but the song was upbeat and sounded very happy. It just goes to show that different cultures definitely have a different way of showing their feelings and thoughts. We tend to tell people straight up what we think. There really isn’t much middle ground, while in foreign countries, they often try and avoid the subject more. We listened to some really interesting songs like Te Amo, Suerte, Rompe, and many others. Spanish songs (and other foreign songs) are very interesting because it’s really cool to hear some of the “lingo” that they use in their country. You really can learn a lot from a certain group of people by what kind of music they listen to.

How To Love By Lil Wayne
About two or three months ago, a song called “How to Love” by Lil Wayne came out and was an instant hit. Today it is still climbing the top music charts steadily and when it gets to the top, I predict it will stay there for quite some time. I really like this song and a lot of Lil Wayne’s music. It’s not very often that you hear him singing a slower, softer song like this one. This song is a good twist of most of Lil Wayne’s music because most of his music is faster and more of the hard core raps. This song shows listeners a softer side of Lil Wayne. When I hear this song, it makes me think of my past relationships. I wonder sometimes if the girl was taught by the girls’ mother or just her ending up with the right guys for her. I like to think that I have learned a lot from my past relationships. The girl that Lil Wayne sings about is having a hard time learning from her “mistakes.” The music video is very good. It’s personal, sad at times, and happy in the ending. It tells a story of a girl whose life wasn’t in her hands very well. When the girl finds a guy that finally treats her right, she grabs hold of her life again. The meaning of the song is very hard to understand if you don’t listen very well. A girl was caught up in some pretty bad relationships with guys that treated her very badly and walked out on her. She grew up not being respectful of herself and became a bartender and a stripper who drank. When a guy would look at her, she would think that something was wrong with her and she’s scared. Lil Wayne tries to explain to her that she is pretty and she deserves better than those other guys. He tells her that she hasn’t met the “right guy” that will show her how to love. The girl is heart-broken and scared to love again, Lil Wayne is comforting her. The music video tells the story a little bit differently but it is still the same concept. It’s very sad that the girl won’t love again. But in the end she gets a guy and it helps her realize that she should have always had confidence in herself.

Me and my music
I am going to start off my blog by telling people a little about me, because if you don’t know me well, you won’t understand why I love music so much. I have a boyfriend of almost a year. When I think of any song with couples in it, I think of us. We are very serious and like many songs say things about fairy tales and it feels like I am in a fairy tale. My family has been through a lot. We’ve had multiple young deaths to deal with which gets really hard to deal with. When we went through these things, I would turn to music to comfort me. Often I was able to find a song that would relate to me and what was going on in my life. Whenever I needed pumping up for cheer or gymnastics, I would listen to music to get me going. There probably aren’t very many newer songs that I don’t know. I am constantly listening to music and I have no idea what I would do without it. I can think of a few songs that remind me of my life, but, one sticks out in my head and it is called My Town by Montgomery Gentry. When I hear this song I think of all the things I’ve done (and most of the time I laugh) and how I’ve gotten to where I am now. Most people would think that I like country music because of the song I just talked about. Well that guess would be very wrong. I am very big on Rap and Hip Hop music. Some people claim that rap isn’t really music because the rappers don’t actually sing. Well I would like for them to try and rhyme something with the word orange. Good luck to them! Raps are sometimes poetic, rhyming, or just inspirational. All types of music interest me (with the exception of screamo – it’s just not my “cup of tea”). Rap music is definitely the best music for me so I’ll be writing mostly about raps and the inspiration that they give me or others around me.
